Where is Triund Trek.?

Triund is the popular hill station in the Dharamkot area of McLeodganj, Kangra district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India.

The best part about Triund journey is that it can be done in just a some hours and you have an option of pilgrimaging back on the same day or staying back and camping – depending on how important time you have.

 McLeodganj was formerly a super chilliness Tibetan destination but has now come overmuch crowded. You can look for a place to stay in the outskirts of McLeodganj, or look at the other three near villages- Bhagsu, Dharamkot or Gallu Temple.

Mcleodganj to Triund Trek Distance

The distance from McLeodGanj to Triund trek is around 10 kilometres. 

Triund Trek starting point  the Galu temple of Dharmakot and trekking of about 7-8 km is required to reach Triund. Triund is the trek route which goes through Bhagsu Fall and Shiva Cafe which is considered to be one of the most challenging treks.

It’s a beautiful trek surrounded by forests and can be done by people of all age groups.  Height of Triund Trek is 2,843 metres above sea level.

Best time for triund trek

If you want to visit Triund, then  the best time to visit here is during the months of May-June and September-October. Because the weather here is very pleasant in these months. 

It gets quite cold in the winter season, so coming here is a good option to avoid the scorching heat of the country's cities. If you want to trek in the snow, you can think about trekking in January-March.

Trekking does not end at Triund. If you are a trekking enthusiast then you can trek further to Lahesh cave and then to indrahar pass.

Trek to Lahesh cave is another 5-6 km from Triund top and takes upto 4-5 hrs as the elevation increases. Lahesh cave is at an altitude of 3500 mtrs.

You can even trek further to Indrahar pass from Lahesh cave which is at 8-9 km from caves and takes about 6-7 hrs. Indrahaar pass is at an altitude of 4300 mtrs so the terrain gets more elevated and ascent gets steep.

Tips for Trekkers

 - Carry a lighter backpack with just few warmers as the temperature gets cold during the night but is pleasant and warm during the day.

- Carry few snacks and a water bottle. 
  Last 2-3 km  of Triund you’ll come across 2 cafes.

Also, if you are not comfortable in carrying a tent then it can be easily rented for a night from the Triund top. If you reach morning or afternoon at top then you can easily rent a tent at 400-800 INR with sleeping bags.

Triund Trek Camping 

To camp at Triund top, there are a lot of options available to stay . There is a government guest house at the top which can be booked either in advance at forest department office in Dharamshala or can be booked at the triund top subject to availability.
